Initial Thoughts on My Amazon Kindle 2

Two Thumbs, Way Up!
I have to admit I was initially skeptical about the eReaders that began flooding the market a few years ago.
The first one I held and played with was Sony’s eReader.  Then an acquaintance, (actually, Ex #1’s husband) got a Kindle and I saw it in action. The clarity was interesting but [...]

Solo-Dad & Newton’s Apple

Single dads look for love.
But finding it isn’t always easy.
It’s been said that the harder you look for something, the more difficult it is to find.  I believe that. Looking for love is often just this way.
We scurry from bar to bar, club to club, date to date and always [...]

Thanksgiving Flashback – A Year Ago on Solo-Dad

Last year, LE was with his mom on Thanksgiving Day.
In an effort to prove that ’sitting around and moping while your kids are with the other parent’ isn’t the only alternative for solo-dads, I Twittered my day and then blogged about here it a few days later.
Here’s a snippet (read the full post here):
It reminded [...]

A Solo-Dad Birthday

Today is my 52nd birthday.
I was born at 8:00 a.m. in Savannah, Tennessee. In 1957 I was the first baby delivered via Caesarian section in Hardin County General Hospital.
I’m told my maternal grandfather raised hell and barged into the nursery because I was crying. In those days, dads didn’t witness their children’s birth [...]

Since deciding to adopt a pet, LE and I have been looking for the perfect dog.
Of course perfection doesn’t exist outside [...]

Solo-Dog, Part II: What Am I Really Looking For?

Am I looking for the perfect dog or the perfect woman?
When it comes to picking domestic partners, my track record isn’t spectacular.
Ex #1
My first wife was, and remains, a lovely woman.  That we grew in opposite directions was, perhaps, the fault of no one.
Though I carried a lot of guilt around with me for [...]

Solo-Dog

I’m not getting any younger, so why wait?
As Summer slips into Fall here in the Monterey Bay Area, the crowds have thinned on the beaches leaving only dog walkers and those still trying to jog their way to a slimmer waistline.
While I’m firmly in the latter category of beach visitors, I hope to soon be [...]

Dad Loaf

Would You Rather Be Buried or Cremated?
It began innocently with one of those infamous Facebook quizzes. You know the ones, written by fifth graders?
Yeah, those.
So, I decided to depart from my normal FB-MO and take the quiz. OK, it actually wasn’t a quiz…more of a poll, I guess.
Anyway….
LE saw I’d posted my preference for [...]

The Ambush Makeover – How Do You Feel About It?

One of my favorite romantic comedy films is Notting Hill.
Yes, I’m a hopeless romantic who loves this genre of films.  I think it’s mostly because they have happy endings where boy gets girls and they live happily ever after.
Even if it isn’t reality, it’s the perfect escape for me at times.
In Notting Hill, Julia [...]
